In a rematch of their first loss against Watsonville, Gilroy played its best game of the tournament Tuesday and won by the 10-run mercy rule.
Gilroy pounded out 15 singles and one triple. They also drew eight walks.
Watsonville took an early 2-0 second-inning lead, but Gilroy scored six in the bottom of the second.
Gilroy added one run in the third. Watsonville scored two runs in the fourth inning, but Gilroy came right back with six in the bottom of the fourth inning. Justin Hale scored the game-ending run in the fifth.
Jonathon Holliday lead the team in hitting, going 3-for-3 including a two-RBI triple. Jordan Fernandez was also 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Brendan Reimer was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Darren Santos was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Zachary Loo was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Marc-Anthony Torres was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Daniel Patterson was 2-for-2, Justin Hale was 1-for1 and Makio Duyao was 1-for-2
Holliday pitched one inning, allowing no hits striking out two batters, and Hale pitched four innings, allowing three hits striking out four.
The defense played a solid game. Holliday made a nice play at third on a hard hit ground ball and fielded it cleanly and made a perfect throw to first.
