Senior nutrition programs at the Gilroy Senior Center (7371 Hanna St.) and the Centennial Senior Center in Morgan Hill (171 W. Edmundson Ave.) got a collective $10,000 boost as the YMCA of Silicon Valley was awarded extra funds through the CareMore Foundation’s Senior Hunger Grant Program.
“We commend YMCA of Silicon Valley on their ongoing dedication to the community in providing care for their senior community members,” said President Leeba Lessin for CareMore Health Plan.
With the support of the CareMore Foundation, the YMCA will continue its initiative to provide meals to seniors in the community, according to the YMCA’s press release.
YMCA of Silicon Valley’s senior nutrition program provides meals to community members in need through local neighborhood senior centers with a goal of “improving the nation’s health and well-being through various programs for children, families and seniors.”
Agencies selected for the hunger grant program receive a monetary award and, in some cases, service hours performed by CareMore Foundation volunteers.
The CareMore Foundation is a nonprofit organization formed to support and strengthen local communities by bringing recognition, finances and volunteers to nonprofit organizations who serve seniors.
