Virginia Military Institute women’s water polo star Caitlyn Jackson, who was raised in Gilroy, was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Jackson, a freshman center defender from Archbishop Mitty High in San Jose, scored six goals in her college debut, a 12-10 win over Notre Dame College in the Salem International tourney Saturday at Salem, W.Va., to tie for the third-most goals in a single game in program history.
Jackson has helped the Keydets open the season 3-1, the best start in program history.
