Gilroy – Four teenagers are suspected of assaulting and robbing two people in the northwest area of the city Thursday night.

The first incident occurred about 9:46pm in the area of Las Animas Veterans Park, 400 Mantelli Drive, police said. A man reported he was approached by a group of four teenagers inside the park. The man said the teenagers kicked and punched him, and stole his mountain bike, backpack, and brown wallet before fleeing the area.

Later that night, in the area of Luigi Aprea Elementary School, 9225 Calle Del Rey, another victim reported being assaulted by a group of four teenagers, described as three males and one female.

They asked the victim to trade a cigarette for a beer, and when the victim refused, the suspects began to assault the 17-year-old victim.

The teenagers stole the cigarette, according to the victim, who suffered cuts and bruises from the attack.

People who witnessed the incident believe the suspects are from the area, police said.
