James Walling II

James Walling II, a 17-year-old senior at Christopher High School, is this week’s “Student of the Week.”
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the many possibilities that I have as a student and person. It gives me the drive to make the most out of life.
What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
I have always loved math, except for trigonometry, because it’s concrete and isn’t open to interpretation.
If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
Provide education for everyone because it would solve many world problems.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I would go to Italy to see some of my heritage and find family.
Name one big challenge in your life right now:
Finding the time to balance ASB, Water Polo, AP classes, Chamber choir and college essays while still enjoying my senior year.
What is your dream job?
An investment banker working for JP Morgan Chase.
If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without?
I would need a water polo ball, my dog and a television with Sports Center.
Favorite book:
“To Kill a Mockingbird.”
What do you want to do after high school?
Go to Columbia University to study business, make a career on Wall Street and then teach and raise a family.
