Maggie Hope

Four months after my husband passed away from prostate cancer and leukemia, I had to have our 10-year-old black Lab put to sleep due to her increasing health problems. A couple of weeks later, I decided to go to the shelter in Atwater, where I was living at the time. (Just to look, of course!) That is where I met my Maggie Hope.
She was a 4-month-old spaniel/beagle mix, who had been found wandering the streets alone and sad. We decided we were meant for each other!
During her holding period, I went to visit and talk to her every day – we had a lot to discuss. Also during this time, I had to have a breast biopsy. We talked about this a lot, and she became my hope for a good result. I did have a favorable result, and Maggie and I have been great buddies ever since.
With other serious health issues for family members and dear friends, it is wonderful to be greeted and loved by my little Maggie and her happy energy. She keeps me busy and happy with her puppy antics, and she insists that we walk at least a mile or two every day. We are healing each other’s hearts and starting our new life together. We have rescued each other!
Thank you Maggie!
