Red Phone: Dear Truckin’ Away, Code Enforcement Officer Scott Barron said he was unaware of the violation, but he said according to the city’s Municipal Code, it would be a violation. The law prohibits the storage of abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or inoperative vehicles on a private or public property for longer than seven days. The exception is when a vehicle “is completely enclosed within a fence or building in a lawful manner where it is not plainly visible from the street or other public or private property.”
Barron encouraged people to contact the code enforcement office directly at 846-0430 because sometimes the city may not be aware of the problem if it is not brought to their attention. And be sure to let the Red Phone know if the problem still continues.
