Horsemen’s meet Friday

Gilroy – The July general meeting will be held at the Grange Hall at 40 E. Fourth St, in Morgan Hill on Friday. Larry Uelk, from King Feeds/LAHearne Company will be educating everyone on horse nutrition, presenting a slide show, and answering questions.

Music series continues

Gilroy – Join the Downtown Business Association and the Theater Angels Art League for a new downtown music series every Friday from 7 to 8:30pm on Fifth Street.

The concerts are free and open to the public, but they are BYOC – Bring Your Own Chair.

Festival volunteers needed

Gilroy – The Gilroy Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to man this year’s hospitality at the Gilroy Garlic Festival during shifts on July 29, 30 and 31 from 11:30am to 3:30pm, and 3:30 to 7:30pm.

Explore Ohlone culture

Gilroy – Explore Chitactac-Adams County Parks native Ohlone culture with park staff from 10am to noon Saturday and learn to make a traditional Chumash Indian rhythmic instrument called a “clapper stick.”

Give blood, save a life

Gilroy – The fifth annual Garlic City Fun Run is set for July 16 in downtown Gilroy. South Valley Street Rods, the Gilroy Downtown Business Association and the Gilroy Garlic Festival combine to provide entertainment, great food and of course, gorgeous cars for all to enjoy.

Dog walk along the trails

Morgan Hill – Coyote Creek Trail hosts a dog walk among Coyote Creek’s trails and trees from 10am to noon Saturday.

Participants should meet at the park office at the end of Malaguerra Avenue in Morgan Hill and bring a leash, water and sun protection.

Learn how to compost

Morgan Hill – The cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill in coordination with the County of Santa Clara host a ‘Composting Basics for Beginners’ class Saturday 10am to noon in Morgan Hill.

Admission is free, and all interested adults are invited to attend and learn the ABC’s of backyard and worm composting in a fun and informative classroom experience.
