SAN FRANCISCO – The Junior League of San Francisco (JLSF) and its national program to fight childhood obesity, Kids in the Kitchen, partnered with Mexican American Community Services Agency (MACSA), Gilroy’s Junior Giants program and Compass Community Services for their 4th Annual summer kick-off event on June 13.
In partnership with Hands On Gourmet Executive Chef Stephen Gibbs and his crew, Kids in the Kitchen provided kids the chance to cook fun, healthy twists on summer foods.
“Health and nutrition are among our primary initiatives,” said Paul Giuliacci, Associate Director of the Giants Community Fund. “This is a perfect partnership because it gives us the opportunity to combine our efforts with another strong community organization dedicated to a significant cause.”
A free, non-competitive program hosted by the Community Fund, Junior Giants baseball aims to teach at-risk youths life lessons that will serve them and their families long after the last ball is thrown. In addition to encouraging an active lifestyle, the program also focuses on utilizing the game of baseball to promote violence prevention and education during the summer months.
