A 23-year-old Gilroy man died Monday after he lost control of his 2006 white Toyota Matrix Monday at 5 p.m. on Santa Teresa Boulevard north of Fitzgerald Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol is waiting until next of kin is notified to release his identity.
Investigators said the man was traveling southbound at 45 miles an hour when he lost control of his car on the west shoulder of the street and careened into the northbound lanes, striking a 2004 Jeep Rubicon driven by a 47 year old womanw with a 14 year old girl passenger.
They weren’t injured, but the driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said drugs or alcohol aren’t suspected in the crash.Â
