This week Gilroy Police responded to a variety of crimes, including burglaries, drug possession, property damage and theft.
Grand Theft
On the 6700 block of Camino Royal more than $3,500 worth of Dyson vacuum cleaners were reported stolen. Police say a “crew” that has been hitting local targets is thought to be responsible.
Commercial Burglary
Tools worth more than $500 were reported stolen from a gas station at 10 Ronan Avenue at 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 10.
Narcotics Possession
Gilroy resident Raymond Salas, 45, was arrested by police for riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the street. After attempting to obstruct officers during a pat-down search, Salas was found to be in possession of more than 8 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sale. Salas was charged with possession and resisting arrest on Dec. 10.
Disturbance
On Dec. 10, Isidoro Rios Garcia, 32, of Newman CA was arrested for causing a disturbance and challenging another man to a fight on the 6700 block of Camino Arroyo.
Property Damage/Burglary
At 7:55 p.m. on Dec. 12 there was a home invasion on the 7600 block of Church Street that resulted in a broken glass-sliding door and a broken window. The residents were not home at the time of the incident and no evidence of missing items has been reported though the culprit(s) had rummaged through drawers and cupboards.
Theft
Three suspects entered a store on the 400 block of Leavesley Road at 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. One acted as a distraction while the two risked it all to steal 15 cans of Bud Light beer. The unidentified suspects fled on foot.
