Christopher High moved closer to a Monterey Bay League Pacific Division title with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-25) victory over Pajaro Valley on Tuesday night in Gilroy.
The Cougars (15-10 overall, 9-1 MBL) hold a one-game lead on Monterey (7-2 MBL) – which defeated Gilroy (4-6 MBL) in three sets Tuesday – with two matches left on the docket. The Toreadores have three matches left. The two side will meet in the regular season finale Nov. 1 in Monterey.
On Tuesday, Hanna Tabron led the Cougars with 11 kills, Christa Arroyo registered seven blocks and Alex Gerberick had 25 assists and 24 digs. Cheyanne Dela Merced added eight kills as 10 different CHS players had at least one.
In the Gilroy High-Monterey matchup, a 25-15, 25-23, 25-18 loss for the Mustangs, Meghan Adams led the locals with eight kills. Haley Sepulveda contributed four aces, while Samantha Una’Dia and Ballie Carpenter had two kills apiece. Freshman Jenna Clonts had two blocks and Leilani Mah had four.
The Mustangs have three league matches remaining in the season.
