The Warriors moved into sole possession of second place in the Men’s Basketball League standings Wednesday with a 51-49 squeaker over the Silicon Valley Hawks at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Hector Salgado scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half as the Warriors (7-2) held onto a 29-20 halftime advantage.
The loss dropped the Hawks into a tie for third place at 6-3 with the Big Grievances. The Grievances and Warriors play in the regular-season finale Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Solorsano Gym. The Hawks test 9-0 Hard Ninety at 9 p.m.
Brad Pluckhan dropped in 14 points to lead the Warrior offense. Jesse Ramirez keyed the strong first half by the Warriors with eight points.
Mark Taylan popped in six three-pointers on the way to 20 points for the Hawks. David Schindler posted 11 points, Hans Mendonca 10 for the Hawks.
Eric Smith struck for 10 3-point field goals as Morgan Hill Garage Door topped the Cool Guys 85-56.
Smith finished with 32 points, while Jesse Mejia and Matt Wendt each delivered 22 points for the winners.
Daniel Estrada hit five 3-pointers in a 30-point effort for the Cool Guys. Aaron Bravo added 11 Cool Guy points.
Rick Hattaway threaded eight 3-pointers to finish with 24 points in a 73-64 Hard Ninety decision over Yea Buddy.
Josh Bleem poured in 20 points and Brendan Greene notched 14 for the league leader. Jeff Smith anchored the Yea Buddy effort with 29 points.
