The Gilroy High varsity field hockey team (1-0) routed host Sobrato 9-0 in nonleague action Thursday in Morgan Hill.
The Mustangs received goals from six different players – including four from three sophomores – Tayler Silacci (1), Katrina Carter (1) and Morgan Rogers (2).
Junior Emma Leach (1), senior Monica Marrazzo (2) and senior Alex Kachakji (2) had the other scores.
Head coach Adam Gemar said he was pleased with the team’s production in special teams situations, as the Mustangs netted six goals on short-corner tries.
