Dear Editor,
It is a shame that any teacher will oppose all-day school for kindergarten students.I was so surprised and disappointed when I heard in the beginning of the school year that Elliot School teachers voted against it.
My question to those teachers is, are they teaching to help students improve on their academic achievements or are they coming to school just to go to work?
Most of the kindergarten students are used to spending longer days outside their homes because both parents or caregiver work. The go from school to non-school environment which is not nourishing or educational.
Why not keep them in the school environment which is safe, educational and nourishing both to their young mind and body?
I am very proud of Rod Kelley kindergarten teachers for voting for it and for having a great kindergarten program which I also think that the whole district should model and adopt.
