Dear Editor,
A recent article in your fine newspaper attributes a quote to me that I wish to correct in the interest of the public good.
In the article I am quoted as saying: “We take a $100 donation for our citizenship classes.” However, what I meant to say was, “I wish that we could take a $100 donation for our citizenship classes.”
I am sorry that I misspoke, but like the governor of our wonderful state, I am still trying to master the English language. I beg forgiveness for having misspoken and beg that my name be restored in all the households in Gilroy and the annals of your wonderful newspaper that it may enjoy the loving tenderness it once enjoyed, if ever it did.
In the meantime, I will continue the process of looking for employment elsewhere in order to sustain the wonderful work of the Director Luz M. Avila and her wonderful volunteer staff since GCEP did not receive funds from the Santa Clara County Citizenship Program this year.
