Bike park meeting

• Gilroy – Officials will hold a public meeting Wednesday to study a potential bike park for Gilroy. Discussions will center on identifying the type of facility and the most appropriate location. Options discussed at a November meeting included concrete terrain similar to a skate park, a dirt BMX track, or a dirt freestyle jump facility.

Officials at the upcoming meeting will recommend a facility and discuss the costs of operations and maintenance, as well as liability issues.

The meeting begins at 7pm at City Hall, 7351 Rosanna Street.

Accident victim identified

n Hollister – A San Martin man who died following an accident on eastbound Panoche Road in southern San Benito County early Friday morning has been identified as 48-year-old Richard Dyer by the California Highway Patrol.

He was found by a motorist a little before 5:30am Friday. Dyer was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

Computers stolen

• Morgan Hill – More than $10,000 worth of computer equipment was stolen from offices of the Santa Clara County Farm Bureau and the county Agricultural Department, which shares space with the Animal Control Department.

The front doors of the offices at 605 Tennant Ave., were pried open. The break-in was discovered Sunday morning. A crow bar apparently used in the burglary was left behind in the agricultural department offices.

Jenny Derry, Farm Bureau executive director, said the burglary will not postpone Wednesday’s annual golf tournament to be held at San Juan Oaks.

Derry said because of the possibility of identify theft, she is notifying present and former employees of the agency about the break-in. Financial information about the employees was stored on one of the stolen computers.

Man wanted in robberies

• Morgan Hill – A man who robbed two Wells Fargo banks in San Jose may be the same suspect who robbed the Wells Fargo main branch at Monterey Road and Main Avenue in Morgan Hill, police said. San Jose police said the suspect is responsible for all three burglaries.

The first holdup occurred April 23 at 3:16pm at the 1705 N. First St. branch; the second San Jose robbery occurred on May 7 at 4pm at the 191 Branham Lane branch.

The Morgan Hill robbery also occurred on May 7, but at 1:50pm.

The suspect is described as an Asian male adult, mid-30’s, 5’7″ to 5’9,” with a thin build, black hair and brown eyes. During the April 23 robbery, he was wearing a dark jacket, dark shirt with “Nautica” across the chest and blue jeans.

On May 7 in San Jose, he was seen wearing a black “Nike” baseball cap, white T-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Wells Fargo Bank is offering a $10,000 reward.

No weapons were used, although in two of the robberies the suspect mentioned a gun but did not show the teller one.
