Construction vehicles level the dirt layer of the new surface at Gilroy High’s Mustang Stadium on Tuesday. The artificial turf at the stadium, to be ringed by a resurfaced track that will be put in next, will be available to numerous field sports at GHS next school year, as well as for a number of Gavilan College football games. Multilayered for safety and featuring individual synthetic grass blades, the new field could make Gilroy High a prime location for Central Coast Section playoff games in sports such as football, soccer and field hockey.
