The Garlic City Billiards sit atop the American Division of the Gilroy Little League Boys’ Majors with a 6-1 record. The Billiards beat California Chopper, 8-3, last weekend and threw a 10-0 shutout at the Westaff Rangers on Saturday.

Against the Rangers, Tyler Sperry singled and Eric Vegas homered to start the game for Garlic City, while Fernando Burton pounded out his first hit.

Westaff, led by Patrick Mank, hit the ball hard but right into the heart of the Billiard defense.

Peter Hilkene, 11, started his first game and went four innings for his first win of the season. Billiards first baseman Joey Sanchez and third baseman Justin Nelson anchored the defense.

“Peter Hilkene pitched great,” said Billiards coach Court Stannard. “He was around the plate with his fastball and change-up, forcing the hitters to swing their bats.”
