San Jose – Sunday’s time change had no affect on the San Jose SaberCats’ ability to perform at HP Pavilion and secure their position at the top of the Arena Football League’s Western Division with a 48-27 win over the Arizona Rattlers.

After a scoreless first quarter, James Roe of the SaberCats completed pass after pass to open the field and engineer a second quarter touchdown at 12:33. At 6:19 in the second quarter the Cats scored again with Steve Warren taking the ball across the goal line. The Cats were out of the bag and scoring but the Rattlers answered back with Ron Gatewood performing a crossing pattern to score for Arizona.

With six seconds left in half, James Roe scored a touchdown using his mighty paws to secure the reception. The kick was good and the Sabercats were up 21-7 going into halftime.

By the fourth quarter the SaberCats still led and at 1:03 the they scored one last time, again with Warren running it in for the 48-21 final.

Joe Jacobs was named defensive player of the game and Christian Turnlund of Morgan Hill went home with Jacob’s sweaty gloves tossed to him after the game.

The SaberCats play at Chicago on Sunday and their next home game at HP Pavilion is Friday, April 15 at 7:30pm.
