Time and temperature
”
As a faithful Red Phone reader, I’d just like to thank you for
the work that you do. My question is about the Verizon time and
temperature number. I remember a while back when Verizon took the
temperature off the call and now I’m not hearing the time at all.
Could you look into that for me? Thank you.

Time and temperature
“As a faithful Red Phone reader, I’d just like to thank you for the work that you do. My question is about the Verizon time and temperature number. I remember a while back when Verizon took the temperature off the call and now I’m not hearing the time at all. Could you look into that for me? Thank you.”
Red Phone:
You got it, caller. The Red Phone was ready to hunt down an answer – but before it did, it wanted to check the number itself. Upon calling the number it has always known to get the accurate time, P-O-P-C-O-R-N or 767-2676, it was given both the time and the current temperature, 51 degrees. Perhaps there was a glitch in the Verizon system at the moment you called. Give it another shot.
Just venting
“Hello Red Phone! It’s nice to have a place to vent on issues concerning Gilroy. Why is it necessary for the people we have hired or voted into office to oversee the operation of our city to sit on their rear ends and wait for some citizen to report a problem that may or may not exist in our city, county or state? Don’t they travel to and from their place of employment and home? Do all of the employees of this city have tunnel vision? I think they should be out and about to see what needs to be done and do whatever needs to be done before it’s seen by concerned citizens if possible.
“I’ve read so much about the trees on Hecker Pass, it almost makes me sick. Save all the trees. When the developers start building new homes and structures in that corridor, they’ll be tearing down all the old homes and structures. Build the new four-lane road on the north and south side of those trees. Get rid of all the old structures now instead of after the trees are gone. Save the existing bridge and Hecker Pass roadway. Build two new lanes on the south side of those trees and make a new two-lane bridge on the northside of the old bridge. Then we’d have one of the most beautiful approaches to our city as well as a nice drive to Bonfante Gardens. Thank you.”
Red Phone:
Thanks for taking the time to call in and offer up your thoughts. The Red Phone received both of your calls loud and clear – just have a little patience – the Red Phone sorts through a lot of phone calls. And always remember, the Red Phone is always here to listen to callers vent about local issues.
Movies, please
“I bought the paper in order to find out what picture shows are playing and don’t see any of them listed. … If it’s not in the paper, could you tell me the names and the numbers of the theaters. I want to find something to take some children to, a good movie for children. Thank you so much.”
Red Phone:
We don’t publish movies and times, and there’s only one theater in Gilroy: Platinum Theaters at 6851 Monterey Road. You can call them and see what movies you might be interested in at 846-6843. It’s up to area theaters to place advertisements to let readers know what flicks are showing, as Platinum Theaters did during the last quarter of 2005 – they’ve stopped since January.
