Kitty nuisance
“Let’s talk about pets. Dogs, cats. Dog owners must keep their dogs on a leash by law. I see people cleaning up after their dogs around our yards in our neighborhood. What are we going to do about the cats? No one keeps their cats inside. Their cats roam around. Their cats use my yard as their restroom, using my flowerbed as their restroom, my sandbox as their restroom. How do you keep cats from going to the bathroom in your yard? I am sick and tired of these cats roaming the neighborhood, using my yard. Thank you.”
Red Phone:
That can be a tough one, good caller. But there is a remedy if you can figure out who owns the cats.
City ordinance declares it a public nuisance and unlawful for any owner of a dog or cat to allow the animal to defecate or urinate on someone else’s property. If talking to the owners about the problem doesn’t work, you can always call your local animal control officer to issue a fine or impound the animals.

Questioning chicken
“Being customers of KFC and Popeyes and taking into consideration the recent news coverage of the bird flu, where do these restaurants get their chicken? Is it all raised in our country or is it imported from China or another foreign country with health standards much lower than ours? Please respond to this question since the Red Phone always helps those with serious concerns and this is a serious health issue which can cause a pandemic outbreak of Avian flu. Sounds simple, but think about it, since even United airlines added facemasks to their flights to and from and from Asia in 2004. Thank you so much and we look forward to getting an answer.
Red Phone:
You can relax, caller. It appears you don’t have to worry about bird flu in the chicken at KFC, Popeye’s or any other U.S. food establishment.
“U.S. restaurants do not purchase chicken from China,” according to the KFC media department. “All U.S. KFCs only purchase chicken from U.S. suppliers. In addition, KFC has met with each of its U.S. poultry suppliers and is requiring them to provide ‘AlI-Free Certification’ for all of the chicken brought into our restaurants.”
Alicia Thompson, a spokeswoman for Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits, said the company has a similar policy.Â
“We do get only domestically grown birds. All (our suppliers) have security plans in place and we audit them regularly to ensure they’re following procedures. We’re also working through poultry suppliers, the industry-wide groups and government agencies to make sure we’re ensuring the safety of our birds.”
So chow down caller.Â
Big thanks
“I wanted to thank everyone for the fabulous job they did on the write up for Coast Range Brewing Company and the new line. Thank you so much, Dispatch. We love you. Bye.”
Red Phone:
We love you too.
