Enjoy concerts in the park
Gilroy –The city’s Community Services Department presents Summer Concerts in the Park, a series of free concerts, held the 2nd Sunday of each summer month.
The first is Sunday from 5 to 7pm at Christmas Hill Park and features the rock and soul sounds of the Silicon Valley Houserockers.
Enjoy a wonderful evening of music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Pack along a picnic dinner, and come help “kick-off” the summer series.
Other shows include: the country sounds of Silver Creek July 9, and the ”50s and ”60s sounds of The Corvairs Aug. 13.
Summer job fair
Gilroy – Bonfante Gardens is now interviewing for summer positions. Immediate openings are available in rides, food service, merchandise, security, games, admissions and more. On Saturday, June 10 from 10am to 4pm, Bonfante Gardens will host a job fair in the Human Resources office at the park. Interviews are also taking place daily from 10am to 5pm in the Human Resources office. Applicants must be at least 15 years of age to apply.

AARP safe driving class Saturday
Morgan Hill – Join an AARP classroom refresher course for motorists 50 and older. Participants will familiarize themselves with driver safety and new laws. Three-year DMV certificates will be awarded for discounts on auto insurance, upon completion of this one-day program. The next class is Saturday in Morgan Hill.

South Valley Music Makers meet
Gilroy – South Valley Music Makers begins its third year of musical celebrations Saturday, June 17, from 1 to 4pm at the Gilroy United Methodist Church, 7600 Church St. All interested performers and listeners are welcome to join the friendly group of musicians and music-lovers to share a few hours of good music and good friendship. Pacheco State Park’s fifth kite day
Gilroy – Experience the color and excitement of Kite Flying on Saturday, June 17, and let’s see how many kites we can fly up at Pacheco Pass. The Fifth Annual Family Kite Day will be held at Pacheco State Park, in a big windy field. Action is from 11am to 3pm.
Everyone who flies a kite will receive a souvenir button. There will be other fun activities including a ‘Make Your Own Kite Free’ table and free face painting, as well as Pie Eating Contests, Bubble Gum Blowing Contests, and a ‘candy-drop’ kite. The only fee is the $5 state park Day Use Fee per Car.
