Find treasures at the downtown flea market
Gilroy – Antique dealers, produce stores and a variety of other downtown business owners will hold outdoor flea markets despite major construction along Monterey Street. The events, held on the first and third Saturdays of the month through October, will rotate between two parking lots off Eigleberry Street, between Fourth and Sixth streets, from 8:30am to 3pm.

Nine graduate from Mount Madonna School
Watsonville – Mount Madonna School’s Megan Mitchell served as the 2006 senior class valedictorian and Seychelle deVries as the 2006 salutatorian.
Mitchell, who lives in Watsonville, will attend Carleton College in the fall. DeVries, an Aptos resident, will head to Southern California and attend Scripps College in Claremont.
In addition to Mitchell and deVries, Mount Madonna School’s Class of 2006 included seven other students: Montgomery Wilson (Bennington College), Andrea Schmitt (Mills College), Alyssa DeBenedetti (California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo), Casey Lightner (California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo), Edison Dudoit (De Anza College), Devin Bhattacharya (Berklee College of Music) and Ian Rusconi (Northeastern University).
Community meeting on infected mosquitoes
San Jose – West Nile virus infected mosquitoes have been detected in Santa Clara County, Vector Control officials said. Kriss Costa, spokeswoman for the Santa Clara County Vector Control District, said in March that this could be a very serious and long mosquito season.
A community meeting is planned to bring residents up to speed about WNV in Santa Clara County and on spreading mosquito-killing chemicals if it is deemed necessary.
The meeting will be held at 7pm Wednesday, at Lynbrook High School, 1280 Johnson Ave., San Jose.
