Gilroy – Sunday Nov. 19, a cut-a-thon will be held to raise money for the family of Julio Gonzalez, the 5-year-old boy who was struck and killed on his way to school Oct. 17.

The Hairstylist community from Gilroy and Morgan Hill started making phone calls to each other the day after the tragedy, in an effort to help do something to help the family and start a dialogue with the community on pedestrian and driver safety issues.

The Hot Spot Salon located at 8025 Kern in Gilroy will host this event from 11am to 4pm.

Gavilan College Cosmetology students will offer a luxurious shampoo service before all haircuts and face painting for children. Raffle tickets are being sold for prizes donated by local businesses that include: tanning, dinners for two, salon services and gift baskets.

We are inviting any one who would like to volunteer or donate prizes for the raffle to contact raffle coordinator Michele Bova at Beyond The Fringe Salon, 427-2411.
