“The March Toward Darkness” (Gilroy Dispatch, June 24) is an opinion with which I agree wholeheartedly!

The newspaper is one way we, the public, must keep our eye on what our representatives are doing or what they are proposing, in the dark.

I am not comfortable with letting bureaucrats grant noncompetitive bids for projects that are being built on taxpayers’ dime. I am for transparency in all government transactions. This means publishing all requests for bids!

We need the local newspaper to keep government transparent—no back room deals, please.
