DEAR EDITOR:

A Christmas Toast to the new owners of the Strand Theatre. Thank you for the Christmas party on Dec. 22!

“Across the stage of the elegant old Strand,

Floated uplifting music that filled the air.

The Casuals were playing tunes from here and there, Tunes of old and new, tunes we all could share.

Next came dinner, a plate of squab and wild rice, Followed by coffee, tea, wine – how nice!

But the chef’s crowning moment was an English delight, He had prepared a plum pudding so tasty and light!

The melodic choir of Gilroy High filled our ears and hearts with songs of yore, Their voices rang out with such harmony we applauded for more!

We now hang our Wreath of Hope for downtown, not only on the Strand, But on the door of our Council, elected to our great City Land.

I want to extend my heartiest thanks and appreciation to the new owners of the Historic Strand Theatre for offering the evening of Dec. 22 as a glimpse into what a positive vision of Gilroy can promise its citizens.
