On February 14th, 2014, Albert Alongi Burtoni joined his mother and father as well as his son “Dinky” and granddaughter, Maryann in heaven.
Al is survived by his loving wife Henia, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Al’s love for engineering began at the age of seven when tinkering on cars with his father in the garage of their San Jose home. His love for cars and motorcycles would continue to grow through the years and become his life’s passion.
His mission: to extract every ounce of power he could from an engine.
In the 1960’s Al began his love affair with Italian exotic cars. Becoming what people refer to him as, the Godfather of Lamborghini.
Al helped pioneer the importing and tuning of Lamborghini’s in America. He was world renowned in the repair and modification of these magnificent cars.
A member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Al was recognized for innovations in the automotive industry.
More than an innovator, inventor and engineer, Al Burtoni was a tough son of a gun. He told it to you how he saw it, with no sugar coating. It was tough love. A nickname meant he liked you. He will not be forgotten by the many that he mentored over the years. Our hearts will always cherish his old sayings and phrases!
Rest in peace Al. We know you are in heaven working on God’s Lamborghini.
