Alice E. Bodal was born in Maxbass, N.D. on Oct. 1, 1915.
Alice E. Bodal was born in Maxbass, N.D. on Oct. 1, 1915. She passed away Feb. 28, 2003 in Gilroy. She attended grammar school and high school in Maxbass and then attended and graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in education. She later attended summer sessions doing graduate work in education in several universities including San Jose State.
After teaching for a few years in the Midwest and Washington State, she started her California teaching career by teaching one year in Williams. Then in 1947, Miss Bodal started teaching in the business department of Gilroy High School. In addition to her teaching duties, she served as faculty advisor to the financial operations of the Gilroy Student Body.
She served in this very interesting and rewarding capacity the greater part of her career at Gilroy High School.
Her retirement started in 1972 and the years since were spent in Gilroy. These years included some travel and other activities of interest.
She is survived by her sister, Ella McDowell of Norco, and nephew, Allen Bodal of Santa Rosa. She was preceded in death by her brother Ralph Bodal.
At her request no services will be held. Cremation was held at Gavilan Hills Cremation, Gilroy under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy
