I am a hearing-impaired person, and I know I don’t represent the majority on this issue, but I thrill to the sound of the train horn at night. I don’t hear crickets anymore, nor most birds, but I smile that I can still hear the train horn from my house.
To some it’s just bothersome noise, but to me it’s absolute glory to hear that lonesome horn in the middle of night. One day that sound may disappear with the birds, the crickets and my cat’s meow.
