From left, Jordan Suniga, Jacob Brendle, Taylor Cooper and Luis Turner received diplomas during the Anchorpoint Christian High School graduation ceremony. The school, which caters to grades seven through 12, is located on 2220 Pacheco Pass Highway in Gilroy. It recently received accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Commonly referred to as a “WASC” accreditation, this is “a voluntary dual-purpose process that schools (1) must be worthy of the trust placed in them to provide high-quality learning opportunities and (2) clearly demonstrate continual self-improvement,” according to the accrediting commission’s website. Anchorpoint has been in Gilroy since 2003 and has a student body count of roughly 130, according to the school’s Academic Counselor, Daphne Montenegro. Enrollment is still open for the 2012-13 school year, with tuition around $5,000. Montenegro says the school offers a high school internship placement program, intimate class sizes and a seventh through 12th grade independent study program for students who don’t do well in a standard learning atmosphere or are in need of credit recovery.
