Dublin – Anchorpoint Christian found itself in a shootout Wednesday in the opener of the Central Coast Section Division V boys basketball playoffs.

Unfortunately, the No. 12 Warriors couldn’t keep up with No. 5 Redwood Christian of San Lorenzo and their season ended with a 90-71 loss.

Anchorpoint (15-4) started the game quickly, taking a 21-16 lead after the first quarter.

But the Eagles (18-8) picked up the pace considerably in the second, outscoring the Warriors 33-21 to take a seven-point lead into halftime and they added to it in each of the final two periods.

Adrian Rodriguez led Anchorpoint with 22 points and Daniel Gutierrez added 20, including four 3-pointers.

Ryan Lepore paced Redwood with a game-high 36 points, including 16-of-18 from the free-throw line.

Girls Basketball

Pacific Grove – The Anchorpoint girls suffered a similar fate as the boys, falling to Coastal Athletic League rival Calvary Chapel 46-26 in the Division V playoff opener.

Calvary advances to the quarterfinals, where it will face No. 1 Pinewood.
