GILROY – Anritsu used 4-for-4 performances by Dave Soto and Mike Buettler to outlast Team Hair FX 14-9 Thursday in the Men’s EE Softball League opener at Christmas Hill Park.
Aaron Miller added a triple and two singles to the Anritsu offense. Tony Bruelna scored three Anritsu runs. Team Hair FX responded with a 4-for-4 showing by George Espinoza and a 4-for-5 effort from Gilbert Ramirez.
VFW Bingo opened the tripleheader with a 10-3 decision over the Good Ole Boys. Steve Lemberger went 4-for-4, Mike Stephens 3-for-3 and Stephen Jeske 3-for-4 for the victors. George Perez garnered a triple and double for the Good Ole Boys.
James Dent capped a strong offensive performance by Heinzen Manufacturing with a grand slam, keying a 21-6 victory over Bad News Block.
Dent finished with four hits, Ed Chacon a triple and two singles for the winners. Gene Ahlin lined a double and single, Josh Flores a double for the Block. Korey Lemos scored twice for Bad News.
Pacific Coast Fence slipped by New Hope Community Church 5-3 Thursday in Men’s E play at Las Animas Park.
Mitch MacVicar and Ed Turner each went 2-for-3 for Pacific Coast Bail Bonds. Jerry Neumeyer anchored the New Hope offense with a 3-for-3 night.
The Gilroy Honda Pilots shook off a three-home run assault by the Borrachos to earn an 11-8 victory.
Tom Shaver went 3-for-3 and scored twice for the Pilots. Pat McGuire collected three Pilot singles. Ralph Flores, Tony Murillo and Joey Flores slapped Borracho home runs.
Don Rose and Luis Gamez hit home runs as the Assassins edged South Valley Community Church Sons of Thunder 12-6.
Mike Reis went 3-for-3 and Rick Chavez and Ron Reinartz each added two singles and scored one run for the Sons of Thunder.
