Antonio Andrade Medeiros passed away at Mabie Skilled Nursing Center Southside on Saturday, December 10th, 2011, at the age of 84 years. Antonio was a native of Faial, Azores, had been a San Benito County resident for the last 50 years; 20 years of which working as a grounds keeper for Ridgemark Golf & Country Club. Antonio loved gardening, spending time with family and friends,”He was a people person”, said his family.
He was a very active member of the I.D.E.S. and S.D.E.S (Portuguese Societies) as well as Sacred Heart and Saint Benedict’s Churches.
“He didn’t need a lot of outside interests to make him happy”, said his family, but he truly enjoyed the trips he made to the Azores.
Antonio is survived by his children Lidia Collins (Chris) and Luciano Medeiros (Joyce) both of Hollister and Antero Medeiros (Lori) of San Jose; his grandchildren Richard Martinez of San Francisco, Kevin Medeiros and Mary Medeiros of Hollister, Sergio and Adrian Medeiros of San Jose; brothers Jose Garcia (Beatriz) of Redwood City and Lourenco Medeiros (Maria) of Faial, Azores.
He was predeceased by his wife Maria Lidia Medeiros on August 14, 2007; his parents Antonio Garcia de Medeiros and Francisca Emilia de Andrade; his sisters Maria, Emilia, Teresa and Angelina.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14th, 2011, from 1:00 P.M. until 8:30, P.M. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at the Grunnagle Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will leave the chapel on Thursday morning at 9:30 A.M. for a Mass of The Resurrection at Sacred Heart Church beginning at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum. Donations are preferred to Mabie Skilled Nursing Cntr Southside or to Jovenes de Antano.
