CCS field hockey showdown: The Gilroy High field hockey team will take its shot at destiny at 11 a.m. Saturday at Del Mar High School in San Jose. On Tuesday, the No. 2 Mustangs toppled No. 3 Archbishop Mitty 1-0 in an edge-of-your-seat CCS semifinals for a shot at the crown. The victory sends the Mustangs into the CCS finals for the first time in 25 years and marks the fifth finals appearance in program history. The Mustangs are 1-3 in championship games, winning it all in 1983 with a 1-0 triumph over Lynbrook.

Gilroy groove: The Gaslighter Theater, 7430 Monterey St., Gilroy, hosts a night of music and fun as Equipto and Opio (of Hieroglyphics) hit the stage to perform at this hip hop event at 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are limited. For details, click here.
Last chance to bash: The City of Gilroy Community Services Department and the Gilroy Children’s Musical Theater present John Bisceglie’s “Big Band Bash!” Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Gilroy Wheeler Community Center, 250 W. Harvest Fest countdown: Gilroy Gardens Harvest Fest runs through Thanksgiving weekend. Enjoy a fall scavenger hunt, kiddie hay maze and cornstalk houses. Groups who are chosen to decorate receive 50 complimentary tickets to Gilroy Gardens for their organization. The park is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 28. Time for a cause: The Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St., will hold a spaghetti fundraiser to benefit activities at the center from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available for $7 at the center office. Children 5 and under eat for free. Take-out orders are available. Details: 846-0414.
