The city of Gilroys’ new aesthetically pleasing welcome signs
have caught the eyes of more than just travelers.
Local design company Articulate Solutions was awarded Silver
Davey Awards in both Signage/Environmental Graphics and
Direction/Graphic Design for the City of Gilroy program, which
includes plans for more than 90 new signs.
The city of Gilroys’ new aesthetically pleasing welcome signs have caught the eyes of more than just travelers.
Local design company Articulate Solutions was awarded Silver Davey Awards in both Signage/Environmental Graphics and Direction/Graphic Design for the City of Gilroy program, which includes plans for more than 90 new signs.
One of the structures, which reads “Downtown Gilroy Historic District” in varying fonts and sizes, marries artistic flair with informative function, exhibiting careful artisan attention to enhance what would otherwise be a standard map of the town.
Three of the new signs have already been installed in downtown Gilroy, and funding for an additional 22 signs has been approved. Forthcoming creations include directional and informational signs, kiosks and wayfinding signs directing visitors and residents to shops, wineries, golf courses, Gilroy Gardens, city offices and other local businesses and attractions.
The Davy Awards honor the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide, selecting their recipients from a pool of more than 4,000 entries from around the world. Awards are judged and overseen by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, a 200-plus member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts and media.
