Mark Penyacsek, Gilroy Wrestling

After losing his spot at 220 to teammate Noe Garcia in a challenge match, Penyacsek dropped three weight classes to wrestle at 170 for the Monterey Bay League Finals. He dropped 20 pounds in four days ad claimed his second straight league title by pinning Salinas’ Darrtanya Solis. 


Paulina Llamas, Christopher Girls Soccer

Llamas scored the opening goal in the 12th minute for Christopher in its 3-0 shutout win over Gilroy on Feb. 20. The senior’s goal helped split the season series with the Mustangs. The win ended Christopher’s season on a high note and it finished 7-10-1 overall.
