Baldomero R. Gonzalez

Baldomero Gonzalez passed away unexpectedly at his residence Sept. 6th at the age of 93 years.

A native of El Puerto De Lucas, Michochan, Mexico, Mr. Gonzalez came to San Benito County in 1944. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church; the Jesus Su Nombre (Prayer group at Sacred Heart Parish), and the Teamsters Local 890 of Salinas. Baldomero had worked for Hollister Canning Company for a period of 12 years. He was also a very knowledgeable tree pruner who worked for Brigantino, Lomanto (25 years), Scagliotti, and Falcone orchards. He pruned trees until the age of 70 years. Baldomero loved knowledge and the opportunity to learn. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and having other people read to him. Mary Macias, his daughter said ” My father always looked forward to the future, but he always said, be proud of your past and who you are”. His wife Esperanza Gonzalez passed away April 22, 2007. Surviving are his children Angelina, Robert, and Josephine Gonzalez; Teresa Ochoa and Mary Macias all of Hollister; Baldomero Gonzalez, Jr. of Hanford; and Rafael Gonzalez of Sanger. He is survived by a brother Ramon Gonzalez of Mexico. He was the father of the late Anna Maria, Marco Antonio, Rafael, and Maria de Jesus Gonzalez; and brother of the late Esperanza Silva and Augustin Gonzalez. Thirty two grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews survive. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 11th from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with the rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at the Grunnagle Funeral Home Chapel. The procession will leave the mortuary chapel on Friday morning at 9:30 A.M. to go to St. Benedict Church for a 10:00 A.M. Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
