Hollister – The Gilroy boys’ golf team passed Hollister in the standings at the TCAL 36-Man tournament last Thursday at Eagle Ridge. On Monday, the Haybalers returned the favor in a three-way match with Gilroy and Live Oak at their home course, Ridgemark.
With the Tri-County Athletic League’s third-place spot on the line, Hollister cruised to the overall victory with a final score of 206 behind a stellar 37 by Wesley Nelson. Gilroy finished in second with a 228 total while Live Oak took third with a 236.
“I was very impressed with Wesley Nelson’s score today,” said head coach Mark Tinder. “He shot his best nine holes of the season, just real solid golf.”
Chris Shackleton, who Tinder credits for providing the team with good leadership out on the links, added a 39 for Hollister.
The third-place Balers will take on fourth-place Gilroy and second-place Salinas today at Eagle Ridge.
