Go mustangs!

Aaron Cimino’s complete-game, four-hitter set the table.
Aaron Cimino’s complete-game, four-hitter, and an error-free defensive effort, set the table for a Gilroy High baseball team 4-1 victory over non-league opponent Bishop O’Dowd on Day 2 of the Serra Classic on Tuesday in San Mateo.

Cimino struck out five in seven innings and also kick started the Mustangs’ offense in the second inning, doubling home Reed Kienle and Eric Vegas for an early 2-0 lead.

Gilroy tacked on one run in the third and fifth innings to grab a 4-0 advantage before the Dragons (10-5-1) posted their lone tally of the afternoon in the bottom half of the fifth.

Ryan Alba finished with a 2-for-4 day, Brendon Holler went 2-for-3 and Bubu Garcia picked up an RBI on a sacrifice.

The Mustangs (13-9) continue tournament play against host Serra, which knocked GHS out of the playoffs last season – today at the home team’s park.
