Gilroy native Chris Gimenez was added to the Seattle Mariners 40-man roster last Thursday, according to the team’s website.

Gimenez, a 2001 graduate of Gilroy High, had been with the Mariners earlier this season before suffering a strained oblique, which forced a stint on the 60-day disabled list.

In 13 games with Triple-A Tacoma since recovering from his injury, Gimenez hit .265 with one home run and four RBI. He had three multi-hit games, including a 3-for-5 day Aug. 28.

Gimenez made his Major League debut in 2009 with the Cleveland Indians, appearing in 45 games that season. In 210 career at-bats, Gimenez has four home runs, 20 RBI and eight doubles.
