Dear Editor,

“Because every child deserves a gift at Christmas” is the theme for the Second Annual Christmas Toy Give-away Dec. 15. Last year’s Christmas event was an overwhelming success. We expected about 150 guests and hosted more than 300.

Every child came away with a gift and a picture with Santa thanks to Councilman Charlie Morales and Designer Furniture Warehouse which donated a pallet of toys at the last minute. This year’s event will be directed towards the families with the greatest need. We regret that we are limited on the number of children we can help due to the capacity of our new location. The Gilroy Eigleberry Neighborhood Association is collaborating with MACSA, GANAS, Rebekah’s Children Services, Gilroy Unified School District and Go Kids Inc. We will be setting up collection barrels at Happy Dog Pizza and Hobby World until Dec. 14. If you would like to experience the real meaning of Christmas by donating toys, decorating a Christmas Tree or wrapping presents, call Art Barron, 315-0854, or Saul Gonzalez, 710-8647.
