Mr. Mendoza was born in the state of Michoacan, Mexico and came to Gilroy at the age of 17. He was a dedicated employee of Gilroy Foods, Con Agra for 35 years and was a committed hospitality minister at St. Mary’s Church.

His greatest pleasure in life was his love for his children, wife and extended family. He had an inspiring sense of humor that made family gatherings very special. For many years, Mr. Mendoza would recruit his friend to dress-up as Santa Claus and visit the family’s Christmas Eve.

He is survived by his wife, Austreberta Mendoza; daughter, Daisy Mendoza; son, Christian Mendoza; mother, Catalina Lopez; brothers, Trini Mendoza and Jorge Mendoza; sisters, Natividad Ayala, Maria Mendoza, Chavela Arroyo, and Rosa Aguirre.

A vigil will be held at 5pm Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.

Funeral services will begin Monday at noon at the funeral chapel, then to St. Mary’s Church for Mass at 1pm. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
