I’m a bit worried about Colorado. I am. You see, ever since they enacted that legalization of recreational marijuana business, I fear that my home state has met the slippery slope of no return.
Emily Mae came to us on a golden day in April 2009. Born 22 months after her sister Gracie, Emily was a bouncing baby girl weighing a hair more than 9 pounds.
Recently I arrived for lunch at a busy downtown restaurant. Greeted pleasantly by the hostess, I explained I was meeting a friend, and I wished to be seated at a table while I waited. I was a couple of minutes late but Sally hadn’t yet arrived so I knew she’d join me momentarily.
Today marks the first official day of summer and grilling season is now in full swing. For the next few months, I will be going back to my “Mixed Grill” roots and featuring not only grilling recipes, but also outdoor friendly recipes too. My inspiration for this week's recipe also served as inspiration for a fellow columnist last month.
Recently I was left in charge of my granddaughters – 5 1/2-year-old Gracie and 4-year-old Emily – for several hours while my daughter and son-in-law ran a half marathon in Santa Cruz. (Yes, I know. The only explanation is that they gave me the wrong baby at the hospital; no way did I give birth to an actual marathon person).
