This week, police responded to several reports of assault, child abuse and drug crimes. Here are a few standout events.

Classic cars and hot rod engines roared throughout downtown Gilroy Saturday afternoon as the 11th annual Garlic City Fun Run Car Show came cruising through town.

The same creative character partially responsible for the mystical-looking 48-by-25-foot garlic mural inscribed on the back cement wall of the 9Lives Club in downtown Gilroy is at it again – only this time he’s got a posse.

While the rest of Santa Clara County enjoys a slow increase in the price of homes and commercial properties for the first time in three years, Gilroy and Morgan Hill’s prices remain slumped, according to a press release from Santa Clara County’s Assessors Office.

Over the past week, police responded to several incidents of burglary, assaults, theft and drug related crimes. Here are a few of those incidents.

During Monday night’s regular meeting at 6 p.m. City Council plans to vote on a proposed ordinance that will prohibit smoking in public parks except for in designated smoking areas.

Last week, Gilroy police made quite a few arrests for burglary and crimes related to drugs or alcohol, as well as a felon who was carrying a concealed shotgun, and a man who tried to steal porn. Here are a few incidents.  

During next Monday’s meeting, council is expected to vote to request the Valley Transportation Authority provide bus service to Gilroy Gardens during the summer months.
