Crime briefs: possesion of meth

This past week, Gilroy Police responded to several cases of methanphetamines, both influence and possesion, home burglaries, and someone trying to shoplift coats. Here are a few noteworthy incidents.

Man suffers minor injuries in stabbing

A man in his 50s suffered a superficial stab wound when an unknown suspect cut him with a knife north of Morgan Hill Sunday afternoon, police said. 

Romero murder suspects’ hearing postponed

The plea hearing for the five suspects accused of killing Tara Romero, 14, and trying to kill three other teens Nov. 4, 2011 was postponed.

Investigators scour north Morgan Hill for Sierra LaMar leads

Still hampered by a dearth of leads, law enforcement authorities began to swarm the areas surrounding the home of missing 15-year-old Sierra LaMar Saturday morning. 

Vehicular manslaughter, DUI suspect’s hearing postponed

The motorist suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol when he struck a man who died as a result of the accident last fall was in court Tuesday, but his hearing was postponed. 

No leads yet; police continue search for missing teen

Law enforcement investigators have interviewed more than 50 teenagers in Morgan Hill and Fremont in hopes of turning up some clues that might lead them to find Sierra LaMar, 15, who has been missing since Friday, authorities said. 

Missing teen’s father a registered sex offender

The biological father of missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar, Steve LaMar of Fremont, is a registered sex crimes offender, according to the state Megan’s Law web site. But deputies do not consider him a suspect in the disappearance of Sierra LaMar, 15, who has been missing since Friday morning.

Police continue to investigate hotel robberies

Morgan Hill police are investigating an armed robbery at a local hotel that might be related to two similar incidents that occurred in Hollister in recent days.
