2 percent raise for police; union, city agree on contract

After nearly two months of negotiations, the City of Gilroy and the Gilroy Police Officers Association have agreed on a new two-year contract that awards 2 percent raises each year for all 59 police officers within the union.

Council to talk trash service fee increase

On Monday, City Council will consider a 5.4 percent increase in trash and recycling service rates within the City of Gilroy.

Sheriff’s department receives grant for DUI enforcement

The primary cause of deaths on local streets and highways remains drunken driving, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office and the "Avoid the 13" DUI Task Force will keep up with its DUI enforcement in the county as a result of a recent $101,500 grant awarded by the California Office of Traffic Safety. The Sheriff’s office will administer the grant for the entire county on behalf of the Santa Clara County Police Chiefs’ Association.
