GILROY—While other football players around the state snuggled up in their beds and dreamt of the first day of practice, the Cougars were strapping on their shoulder pads. GILROY — Brandon Boyd is the type of athlete that coaches dream of having. He’s hardworking, talented, modest and intelligent. He’s the kind of player who a team will rally around, but doesn’t think the team revolves around him. GILROY — All season long Christopher coach Tim Pierleoni has been preaching the importance of writing a good story to his team. Week after week the Cougars added another chapter, all leading up to the ending in Week 10 — or so they thought.
GILROY — Garcia-Elder Sports Complex was all but empty following Gilroy’s game with North Salinas. The fans had cleared out, both teams made their ways to the lockerroom. But for one final time, senior running back Brandon Boyd took a knee at midfield, reflecting on “G” that represents Gilroy and everything he’s fought so hard for the last four years.
