“I was calling about the parking in front of the IFDES Hall. People park in front of homes in the neighborhood making it hard for us to park our cars because there is no parking there and they leave trash everywhere. You guys did an article awhile back and you said that because the building had been there awhile it didn’t have to have permits. The city has said that businesses can’t have events if they don’t have parking for it. Lizarran Tapas had to build an additional parking area by the railroad, but why don’t places like the IFDES Hall have the same requirements?”
“I have been driving past the Santa Clara Health Center by the old Walmart. I am curious what that parking lot solar buildings is. It looks like it could light up Gilroy. It is such a big project.”
“Will there be any improvements regarding the doggie park in Gilroy? The last time I was there with my little dog, it was just me the dog and three men sitting on the grass near the entrance to the doggie area, each had their own brown bag they were drinking from. I decided to go the doggie park in Morgan Hill. The people that I did talk to at the Morgan Hill park lived in Gilroy. What does that say for our little town? I can't walk my dog in my neighborhood, because I live in a mobile home park, that does not allow dogs to be walked, even with a leash in one hand and a pick up poop bag in the other. It sure would be nice to see some grass, trees and water for the little dogs. Benches would be nice so people could sit and just watch the little dogs playing. Thanks for listening.”
“I am calling about Murray Avenue north of Leavesley Road. Awhile back they always make these promises that they are going to look into it about doing something about these cars going as fast as they go on the freeway. We need someone to patrol this area, or they need someone to do something about this road. We get a lot of these speeders that come through this area. It is part residential. When we walk, we don’t have any sidewalks.”
"On a Friday about 11:15 a.m. at the stop sign at Wren and Leavesley I saw a Gilroy Police SUV in which the driver heading south on Wren was talking on his cell phone as he was driving. I was just wondering if I missed something. Does that law not apply to the police who are giving us tickets for talking on our cell phones as we drive?"
"Can someone fix the water leak on northbound Santa Teresa Boulevard just before Long Meadow Drive? I go to work around 3:45 a.m. every morning, and every morning there's a river crossing the road from the planter box in the center divide. It has been happening for more then two months now. What a waste."
“Can (or more appropriately will) the city do something about the traffic lanes heading towards Christopher High School on Santa Teresa Boulevard? The problem starts at Longmeadow Drive all the way to East Day Road. There doesn’t appear to be efficient use of the existing pavement out there. There are hundreds of feet of wide, empty striped medians and/or shoulders while cars are backed up and trying to crowd into over-capacity lanes. Why?”
“The city recently put a cheap chip seal coating on our street near Las Animas School. For those who don't know what this is, it's a low cost way of preserving pavement. It's a oil seal with small rocks that stick to it. Basically a mess. The problem is that it has now been a couple months and the small rocks are everywhere. And I mean everywhere, even in the garage and in our house. They have damaged some of our neighbors wood floors. We have called the city to come out and take a look at it and they say this is normal. I can't believe that after months have gone by that the rocks should still be coming up. Nobody in the neighborhood is happy about this and the part that still amazes me is that the streets are only nine years old and did not even need to be sealed. There are much worse streets in Gilroy.”
“I was just walking through Miller Park. It is a little gem. It has mature Christmas-like trees like cypress and redwood. So do many of our bigger parks like Christmas Hill. I notice we keep putting that artificial tree that is getting pretty raggedy up downtown. Wouldn’t it be nice if we use one of our living beautiful trees in our neighborhood parks? I know downtown needs all the help it can get. But what an opportunity we have with some of these little gems of a park.”
“We had a contractor do removal and replacement work on Camino Arroyo. The contractor was EF&S Concrete. Those guys put a stamp on every four-foot piece of their sidewalk repairs throughout the whole strip from the Outlets out to the county facility by Kaiser Permanente. Was that really necessary to put a stamp on every darn piece of concrete for the whole strip? Why did they do that to our streets? It looks more like vandalism than anything. Don’t let them do that to our streets in Gilroy. It looks awful.”
