Morgan Hill – A man whose body was found the night of Oct. 6 on the side of Willow Springs Road northwest of Morgan Hill has been identified as Edwin Thomas Chaney, 47.
The man was incorrectly identified by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office in an article in the Oct. 9 edition of The Dispatch.
The cause of Chaney’s death is still listed as “pending” because toxicology reports are not complete.
There was no obvious sign of a cause of death,
“The case is still under investigation,” Deputy Terrance Helm, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said Friday.
“Detectives are trying to trace his movements in the days prior to his death.
They are looking for anyone who might have come into contact with him, anyone who knew him.
“We do not know why he was in Morgan Hill, we don’t know if he knows anyone in Morgan Hill,” Helm said. “They are still trying to piece things together.”
Chaney may be from Modesto, Helm said, but that has not been confirmed.
Anyone with information about the case or who knew Chaney may contact Detective Sgt. Pedro Contreras at 807-4500.
